Your journey through the Cevennes on the Stevenson trail starts in the Haute-Loire, at le Puy en Velay. It will take you about 12 days to travel its 272 km.
This hiking trail takes you in the footsteps of the famous Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson and his donkey Modestine, who set off from Monastier-sur-Gazeille to cross the gorges of the Loire and then the Cevennes, as far as Saint-Jean-du-Gard, via Mont Lozère.
With or without a donkey, you'll first cross the volcanic plateaus of le Velay towards the lands of Gévaudan. You'll discover exceptional flora, bursting with a thousand colours in spring.
Remarkable landscapes and 360-degree views of the Cevennes await you on this unmissable hike, perhaps one of the most beautiful in the Massif Central.
