The Great crossing of the Ardèche by mountain bike is a mountain biking itinerary that crosses the Ardèche department from north to south. The route, which includes some rather technical stages, is divided into several parts: the mountainous Ardèche in a large northern section, the Cévennes Ardèche, and then the southern Ardèche. Ready? Starting from Annonay

The GTA adventure starts in the far north of the department in Annonay. The first stages offer wide-open spaces in the mountainous Ardèche. You will enjoy superb panoramic views, wild nature, and well-preserved landscapes.

Essential stages

The route can be completed in about 7 stages. However, this will vary depending on the pace of each individual and the type of mountain bike.

During the hike, you will have superb views of the Monts d'Ardèche Regional Natural Park. You will pass through Saint-Bonnet-le-Froid, Mont Mézenc (1753 m), Mont Gerbier-de-Jonc (source of the Loire river), and the Vans and Vallon-Pont-d'Arc.

Cultural and natural experience

This crossing of the Ardèche is an incredible natural experience. From the hills to the high plateau of Mézenc, you will enjoy sublime panoramas. This will also be the case on the following section with views of the Cévennes. The scenery then takes on a more Mediterranean appearance.

The route ends with a crossing of vineyards and olive groves on the banks of the Rhône.

Many villages are also crossed. This is the ideal opportunity to eat, sleep and, of course, discover local life. A real adventure off the beaten track.
