sur The Gorges of the Tarn
Description of the route: Gorges du Tarn trail
Though the Tarn river may look like a raging torrent – from its source on Mont-Lozère at an altitude of 1600 m all the way to Florac, when it arrives in Espagnac, it slips between the causses (limestone plateaus) of Sauveterre and Méjean. As its legacy, it has left us this canyon that it took millions of years to dig.
Over 53 kilometres, the gorges of the Tarn offer meanders, circuses and chaos... dotted with typical villages.
From Florac to Le Rozier, the trail runs along the left bank of the river. On foot, the pace is slow, you have time to observe the landscape, to stop in the villages, to dream as the water flows by, to dip your feet...
