As the patron saint of handmade lace-makers, St. Régis could also have been the patron saint of hikers.
After all, to evangelize the inhabitants of Velay and Vivarais, shaken by the Wars of Religion, he covered crazy distances of 40 to 60 km across mountains, woods, gorges and moors in all kinds of weather conditions.
Today’s pilgrims and walkers are following in his footsteps as they peacefully discover breath-taking and moving landscapes.
With five regions successively crossed: the Puy basin, the Mézenc volcanic plateau, the Haut Vivarais, the Montfaucon granite plateau and the Meygal volcanic plateau, never an ounce of monotony settles in, especially since the altitudes reach between 613 m and 1295 m, offering remarkable views.
